Women Behind the Table August 29,2016

UPDATE:

Read this amazing article about the night, by one of our very own BOLD women Tavia Rivee on the Broadway Black website:

As black women in the performing arts, it has often felt as though there is not a place for us. However, there are many women in our industry whose story's and success' gives us hope that great effort is being made to create space for us.

August 29th Actors Equity will be hosting “At The Table” a panel of Black Women Creating Change in Theatre.

Come hear from:

Katori Hall (Mountaintop, Hurt Village)

Alia Jones-Harvey (Producer Eclipsed, Trip to Bountiful)

Jocelyn Bioh (Actor: Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, playwright: Nollywood Dreams)

Kamilah A. Forbes (Artistic Director of Hi-Arts)

Camille A. Brown. (Choreographer: A Streetcar Named Desire, Fortress of Solitude)

The panel will confront issues of diversity and sexism, both in the conceptual stages of theatre and in production, while highlighting women who are pushing through barriers in all aspects of theatre making.

Our panelist will share the story of how they became the directors, producers, writers, or actors that they are followed by a Q&A.

The panel will take place on August 29, 2016 at the AEA building.
